when creating our magazine and film poster we found it important to keep to a certain theme/ design most of our filming is done in black and white because we thought this would work well with the genre weve chosen being horror.
Both poster and magazine have the same feature picture of our main character and killer stood in a dark small alley way with his face coverd in complete darkness, the only things seeming to stand our being his white tshirt there and there is also a similar shot used in our main film. I found this picture to be effective because it gives off the impression of someone thretening, our man is stood in the center of our picture wich is something i picked up in research allthough mainly with the magazine cover. most film magazine covers showing horror films have there main protagonist placed centeral in the picture standing square on the the viewers in a posture that holds no restrictions.and verry often there face is coverd or there hands are tied in front of them. For our magazine cover our main villan is placed in the same way how ever we thought that in keeping his face in darkness we thought this would make him seem more intimidating as opposed to having his hands tied wich in some peoples eyes may actually make him look a little vunerable. both poster and magazine are also verry dark wich conforms to our genres stereotype.
The film poster allthough being the same as the image used for the magazine is actually a little brighter giving it an illuminated effect we decided to use this effect to make our picture stand out more. the posture in wich our character stands reminds me personally of the character 'grim reaper' or possibly the main character 'scar face' in the scream movies again another film about a phsycopath who goes round killing his close friends and family how ever he is in full costume and and also masked.
The font used on both magazine poster and trailer is verry similar allthough the one used on our magazine is a little bolder I chose todo this again because of research the colouring I made simple however the main heading empire is in its more often than not trade mark colour red along with my main feature heading for the film, I chose the colour red because it stood out against the darker back ground and also works well with presenting the genre. the font of the poster was done as a white outline because we thought this worked well with the colour sceme and evidently when we previewed it in red font it made it dificult to read and again we wanted to keep it simple because we wanted our feature picture to do most of the advertising rather than the headings. The idea for this was for the main picture to become something used to identify our film.
Through being a fans of the genre weve chosen to work with i feel that each one of oure texts will apeal efectively to our target audience and draw them to our film obsession, I feel that by not giving out too much information about our film through poster images and magazine covers and our trailer it will help give our film a more mysterious feel about it something i also got from the way the first paranormal activity was previewed to its viewers, even thought a minimal amount of information was shown apart from a couple of key moments people were still interested to see this movie to see what it comes out with im hoping our texts will have the same effect for obsession.
