Poster - last house on the left

The film poster for the last house on the left uses black for the majority of the back ground. The house is surrounded by a white back ground that looks like a light. It makes the house look like a Shilloette. The house also looks abandoned and creepy as the light from the back makes it look like there is mist surrounding the house.

The title of the house is in bold font with all the words in white except ‘house’ which is in blood red and covered in blood splats. This insinuates the house is dangerous. The title takes up half of the poster and has very strong connotations on its own.

I think this poster is very simple but very effective. The way they highlighted the word house and having a picture of a house at the bottom makes me think that most of the action is happening in the house.

‘If bad people hurt someone you love how far would you go to hurt them back.’ This is the quote at the bottom of the poster this suggest that the story involves a group of friend or a family. As there isn’t a person on the front cover to draw audiences in, I think they have kept it simple so the audiences imagination can fill in the blanks
