When I first started working on
my media practical I was originally working alone on my horror trailer but
because I was having trouble on my blogging I decided to team up and work as a
pair with my friend Amie Bretherick who is also in my class working on her own
with the same genre as me evidently she was having difficulty with completing
her filming with finding available actors who had time to star in her film because
of our problems we decided it would be a good idea to work together on our
trailer so that we could complete our task effectively so from now on the work I
post is going to be the work linking to both mine and Amie’s trailer for our
film.

while she sleeps (morning edit – by the lights galaxia) http://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Lights_Galaxia/Global_EP/While_She_Sleeps_morning_edit
This music is very calm and gentle at the beginning then the
beat comes in and it gets stronger. For me I think of it as love music as it is
very light and relaxing. I will use this in the middle of my trailer for the
love scenes.

I like this music for the beginning of the trailer it is
quite calm and is and clearly opposite form some of the other music it sets off
different emotions to the other music. I like the idea of just the guitar as it
gives a warm approach but insinuates that he is still lonely as it’s the only
instrument playing.
dark asylum music - eaters of flesh (goth) http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Dark_Asylum_Music/Malice/Dark_Asylum_Music_-_Malice_-_19_Eaters_of_the_Flesh
I like this music as it connotes god and churches and the
devil. It’s a short clip but I may be able to link it in with other music and
play it at the end. It has a strong drum
beat that will increase heart rate. I like this music as it is very strong and
will link in with the references to god in my film.
dark asylum music – invitation to beheading http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Dark_Asylum_Music/Malice/Dark_Asylum_Music_-_Malice_-_15_Invitation_to_a_Beheading
I like this music because it has a very strong beat like a
heartbeat which should create tension. It is also very unorganised like the
characters thoughts and the music portrays a sense of struggling between good
and evil. I think the music will be able to portray the characters thoughts
better than I can or the actor can and this is why I would like to use this
music in my trailer.
The music has got a low tone and makes me think of dark,
nasty things. I think the music give a
lonely effect. I like the singing as I think it’s quite creepy. I think this
music will create tension. It is quite a long clip; I might use parts of it in
the middle of the film as it might link in especially with the bit that shows
him on his own walking. I feel like the music has a walking beat to it and
could be used for certain scenes in the trailer

Things to consider when creating a film
Age - what's suitable for them to see. The storyline has to be suitable for the audience its aimed at.
Gender - The male audience dominates the cinema, therefore action filmsshould be very popular in cinemas
Location (of audience)- Not everyone can afford to go to the cinema. there could also be a language barrier releasing a film in a country where the native language isn't that of the film.
Occupations - TV listings/cinema listings can become competition. Catching people when they are home e.g. holidays
Lifestyle choices (interests)- Movie advertisements for women in womens magazines & advertisements for men in mens magazines
Politics - Newspapers lean towards different political parties may influence there readers.
Ethnicity - Ethnics should be considered by having a wide range of people with different backgrounds, ethnic traits, allegiance, or associations.
Attitudes - Similar Attitudes to real life can make a movie/tv show very popular for example the inbetweeners or misfits.

Higher certificates
-
Most Horror films or any general scary films are rated in the 15 to 18 criteria this is because all of these types of films will contain some kind of language abuse, scenes of a sexual context and violent/thriller scenes all things that require a higher age limit to the previous ratings discussed our film is going to be a horror so we are going to give it a higher rating.
-
using a high age rating also is a good way to boost our viewing audience numbers. when people see a film with a rating of 15 or maybe more 18 they will automatically know that the films is going to be extremely scary so will automatically be interested in watching it because the know they will get a trill from it making the film appealing to more people even if not all of them would choose horror as there favoured genre
15R : ages 15 and over
18R : ages 18 and over

lower film certificates
- Because my chosen genre is horror age labels like 12, PG and U would be unsuitable because i would like to make my trailer reveal short scary clips to my audience and this would make my possible film unsuitable for any ages really under the age of 15 which sounds as if i was limiting my target audience but in fact the target audience is very large for horror as older people are the ones that would be more likely to watch my film and films that are rated under the age of 15 are usually comedy's, romantic films and animators which are completely different to my chosen genre of film and are aimed for younger viewers as well as older ones
Parent/Guardian : provision is required
Universal :suitable for all ages
12R :ages 12 and over

The majority of the audience were males 15-24 years old. The use of attractive females in the film were used to draw in the audience. In my trailer, i plan to cast the role of victim as a young and attractive female in order to appeal to the young male audience. i will also use a female around the age of 20 years old, so that the audienc can relate to the characters. The film may appeal to younger males because they want the thrill of being scared. In my film, i want to use suspence to draw appeal to the main audience. i want to target young adults as they have the most disposible income. |
